(Des Moines) A band of snow will develop this afternoon over parts of southern into eastern Iowa. The National Weather Service expects snow accumulations of around two or three inches within the band, reduced visibility, and snow-covered roads may cause travel impacts, especially while the snow is falling this afternoon into the evening hours.
The National Weather Service says the upcoming holiday weekend will feature the coldest weather of the winter season to date. The frigid weather pattern features potentially dangerous wind chills from Saturday morning through Sunday morning. Accumulating snowfall is also likely across parts of southern and eastern Iowa. While snowfall amounts remain uncertain at this time, the combination of blowing snow and snow-covered roads may have travel impacts in these areas between Friday night and Saturday.
