Additional Rain Could Push Iowa Toward September Rainfall Records

(Des Moines) Two more wet weather systems are expected to move through the region today, Friday, and Saturday, bringing additional rainfall.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Rod Donavon in Des Moines says rain is expected to develop today, with no immediate relief in sight.

Donavon says the two systems moving through the region could bring additional heavy rainfall, potentially pushing September precipitation totals into record territory.

Des Moines, for example, has already received 14 inches of rain this month, putting the city within reach of a new record for September rainfall.
