(Atlantic, IA) — Nishna Hills Golf Course hosted the Western Iowa Conference boys and girls meet and Treynor won the girls meet while Underwood took the boys competition.
The Cardinals won with 383 — 12 strokes better than Missouri Valley in 2nd with a 395; Riverside was 3rd with a 402. Molly Coffman was low round for Treynor with a 93 and a tie for 3rd place; Sophi Pedersen was 5th with a 94 and Shaylee Smith was in 6th with a 95.
Medalist honors went to Cameron Way of Tri Center who won by 9 strokes with an 83 and her round included a quadruple bogey 9 on the par 5 18th hole. Way had 10 bogeys and 7 pars.
Clara Pace of AHSTW finished 2nd place with a 92 with 4 pars.
Nolan Baker led Underwood to the team title for the guys with a school record 305, 11 better than Treynor with a 316. Baker was the individual champion with a 71 that included an eagle 2 on the short par 4 16th hole — he also birdies 2 and 11 and had 10 pars, 4 bogeys and 1 double. The Eagles had three rounds under 80 as George Brandt and Owen Fletcher each shot a 76.
James McCready of Riverside was the runner up with a 74 — he struggled on the front nine but recovered to shoot a (-1) 35 on the back nine. Also for the Bulldogs, Payton Amdor had an 80; Nathan Smith and Bennett Hough each shot 83 and Austin Zimmerman and Grant Richardson each shot an 85 — Riverside was third in the team standings, 15 behind Underwood.
Kaden Jorgensen of AHSTW was in third place with a 75 — he birdied 17 and played steady golf with 11 pars.
Henry Burr led Audubon with an 80 and the Wheelers finished in 5th place.
