(Oakland) The Riverside boys’ track team emerged victorious at the Western Iowa Conference Track Meet held on Tuesday in Missouri Valley, accumulating an impressive total of 151 points against a strong field of competitors. According to Riverside Head Coach Alex Oliver, the team’s focus was evident as soon as they stepped off the bus.
Oliver says the team scored in all phases of the meet.
Coach Oliver says the whole team put in their effort, with Dawson Henderson standing out during the meet. He not only set a school record by winning the 3200 in 9:52.81 but also secured second place in the 800 and was a key member of the victorious 4×400 meter relay team.
Jaxon Gordon and Cole Jeppeson also played crucial roles in the team’s success. Jeppesen made significant contributions by scoring valuable points in the 100, 200, and 400-meter events, and he kicked off the victorious 4×400-meter relay. Meanwhile, Jaxon Gordon served as the anchor for the 4×400 Meter Relay, secured first place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.64, and took second in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 55.76.
Riverside is set to compete at the Boyer Valley CO-ED meet on Monday, followed by the State Qualifying meet on Thursday, May 14. The Bulldogs have a significant chance to make a strong impact at the State Meet.
