(Cass Co.) The Cass County Board of Supervisors tabled setting public hearings on a zoning reclassification request at Tuesday’s meeting.
The request called for a change in zoning from General Agriculture to Heavy Industrial for a parcel of land located at 58708 Yankton Road. Board Chair Steve Baier explained that the proposal had previously gone before the zoning commission, and the Board of Supervisors, where concerns were raised regarding the amount of acres in the parcel and other factors related to its potential use as a salvage yard.
Baier had suggested that the zoning be changed to Light Industrial, which would still allow the landowner, John Topham, to operate his mechanic shop.
After some discussion, the board decided to table action on setting a hearing until they speak with Topham to determine whether he is agreeable to changing his request from Heavy Industrial to Light Industrial.
