(Atlantic) The City of Atlantic recently received a bid from Paul and Kristi Wegner for $1.00 for the City-owned property at 411 Birch Street. At Wednesday’s City Council meeting, the Council agreed to hold the public hearing for the sale of the property on May 20, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
The Wegners intend to build a $300,000, 4-bedroom house to help their son and his roommates. The lot is currently assessed at $5,760.00. Removal of trees on the property is part of their bid.
Atlantic City Administrator John Lund says the land disposal policy requires a $100,000 minimum assessment of the new value added to the property for the City to accept the sale for less than the assessed value. Lund adds that the Wegners’ bid meets this requirement. The City received no other bids.
Lund says City policy requires that the bid be submitted to the City Council for its decision, and at the April 15, 2026, City Council meeting, the Council accepted the proposal and directed Lund to contact the City Attorney and prepare the transfer paperwork. He says all necessary paperwork is complete, and all required documents have been forwarded to the City Council to execute the sale of 411 Birch Street.
