(Shelby Co.) A Harlan man died Wednesday evening following a motorcycle versus sprayer crash in Shelby County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 7:25 p.m. on County Road M16. Authorities say 19-year-old Jacob Buman was traveling northbound on a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle when he approached a northbound 2010 Apache 715 sprayer operated by 37-year-old Luke Applegate of Shelby.
The sprayer began turning left into a driveway at 226 County Road M16 when the motorcycle struck the rear of the vehicle mid-turn. The impact caused the motorcycle to come to rest in the west ditch, while the sprayer stopped in the driveway.
Buman was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office by Heartland Funeral Home.
