(Des Moines, IA) — State Senator Zach Wahls issues his first public statement after being removed as the Iowa Senate Democratic Leader. In a social media post on Medium, Wahls says he’s no longer Leader because other Democratic Senators disagreed with his decision to fire two longtime senate staffers who didn’t share his vision for the future. The Johnson County Senator wished success to the chamber’s new top Democrat — Dubuque County Senator Pam Jochum. The next Iowa Legislative Session will convene on January 8, 2024.
