(Dubuque, Iowa) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources released the names of the two northeast Iowa men who drowned as a result of a boating collision with a submerged object on Molo Slough in Pool 12 of the Mississippi River: Wayne Ameskamp, 62, of Dyersville, and Michael Donahue, 61, of Bellevue.
A third passenger, Sharon Ameskamp, 62, of Dyersville, was also ejected when their 16-foot fishing boat struck the object. She swam to the east shore of the slough, where passing boaters rescued her. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Oct. 3.
Iowa DNR Conservation Officers, Dubuque County Sheriff’s Deputies, Key West Fire Department, East Dubuque Fire Department, and a Dubuque County Conservation Ranger responded to the incident.
