(Guthrie Center, IA) — Guthrie County’s Board of Health is continuing to work towards a formal application for being a District Lead in the Regional Health system.
At Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, Health Services Director Jotham Arbor is putting together the final touches on the formal application for Guthrie County to be the District Head of their Health Region. The application is due this Thursday.
Arber says the entire goal of the whole process to make sure that each county does not lose any services
Supervisor Maggie Armstrong does not want any county to lose their hometown services because of state reorganization
Arber emphasizes that as the lead in the public health region, they would control the money distribution to each county and if they were not following through with available services, they could withhold money but Arber says they would do so through the Iowa HHS.
Guthrie County is part of Region 4 with Adair, Adams, Audubon, Cass, Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, Taylor and Union Counties. The term is for five years. Arber says they will learn the state’s decision sometime in November.
