(Montgomery County) Montgomery County Veterans Affairs Clerk Ed Young is looking to step down and recently approached the supervisors about hiring a part-time clerk who will eventually take over his position.
At Wednesday’s meeting, the supervisors approved the hiring of Sean Kaiser as the part-time Veterans Affairs Clerk. Current Veterans Affairs Director Ed Young, who appeared at the supervisors’ meeting this morning, said the commission met with four candidates and selected Sean Kaiser for the position.
Kaiser said he likes helping people.
Jerald Palmquist spoke to the supervisors in Kaiser’s favor.
Kaiser’s employment will start immediately. Young says the office will now be open five days per week.
Additionally, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors has approved Resolution 2026-36, accepting a bid from Nelson & Rock Contracting for a bridge replacement project.
The project involves replacing a bridge with a metal pipe culvert on an unnamed tributary along 165th Street in Montgomery County. The project is designated as L-RO303-69.
The board approved Nelson & Rock Contracting’s $110,366 bid and awarded the associated contract to the company.
The resolution also authorizes Montgomery County Engineer Karen Albert to execute the construction contract on behalf of the Board of Supervisors after the Board receives the required contract documents, including the contractor’s bond and certificate of insurance.
