(Lincoln, NE) – With the departure of former Athletic Director Trev Alberts, Nebraska Interim President Christ Kabourek announced Dennis Leblanc will step in the position as interim Athletic Director.
Dennis Leblanc has served with Nebraska Athletics for over 40 years, joining back in 1983 as a member of the track and field staff. He was the Athletic Director of Academics before stepping into his current role as Athletic Director. Under Leblanc, he has helped the Huskers reach a record-high 95% graduation success rate while Husker athletes have maintained a 3.37 GPA which was the highest ever recorded in Nebraska history.
Leblanc said, “I’m honored and grateful that President Kabourek has entrusted me with this role. He has an exciting vision for excellence at our University and I will do everything I can to help move that vision forward. Serving our student-athletes and all of Husker Nation is the privilege of a lifetime, one I will never take for granted. My pledge to Nebraskans is that I will work hard each and every day to help Husker Athletics be the best it can possibly be.”
Alberts stepped away from the role on Wednesday after being hired by Texas A&M to be the new Athletic Director. Kabourek said that he is still launching a national search to find a permanent Athletic Director with no intended date on when that would start or be announced given the current circumstances.
