(Des Moines) AAA reports that the average price of regular unleaded gasoline has reduced by four cents from last week, bringing it to an average of $3.28 per gallon across Iowa. The current price is 22 cents lower than it was a year ago. Nationally, the cost of regular unleaded gasoline has remained unchanged from last week’s price of $3.66.
This week, the price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell by $2.27 per barrel to $82.48, while Brent crude oil dropped by $1.58 to $87.69 per barrel. One year ago, WTI crude sold for $78.76, and Brent crude was at $84.23.
Diesel prices in Iowa fell four cents this week, with the average statewide price now at $3.75 per gallon. One year ago, the price was $3.93. The current Iowa diesel price is 27 cents lower than the national average of $4.02.
Wholesale ethanol prices remained steady at $2.16. The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.34 for U87-E10, $2.72 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.60 for ULSD#2, $2.86 for ULSD#1, and $1.98 per gallon for E-70.
Lastly, natural gas prices rose 29 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently at $1.96/MMbtu. Retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa will only be reported once a month throughout the summer months.
