(Buffalo, NY) – In the second straight game against Buffalo, the Iowa Cubs fell in five innings to the Bisons 2-0. This puts the Iowa Cubs to 15-12 on the season and third in the west.
There were just a few highlights to this game including a slap hit single in the bottom of the fourth inning by Max McDowell that advanced Leo Jimenez to second. After a throwing error by the Cubs’s catcher Ali Sanchez, Jiminez was able to advance to third. Steward Berroa hit a line drive to Owen Cassie to score Jiminez from third to put the Bisons ahead 1-0. They weren’t finished yet as Spencer Horwitz grounded into a double play, but the Bisons scored once again and went up 2-0. This ended up being the final score of the game as the Cubs fell in their second straight.
Leading in the game for Buffalo was Borra who went 1-1 with one RBI and a walk, Jiminez went 1-2 while Lukes and Palmegiani went 1-3 in the game for Buffalo. For the Cubbies, Miles Mastrobuoni, David Peralta, and Owen Cassie all had a hit on the day but were not able to score.
Earning the loss in the game was Iowa’s Dan Straily who pitched in 3.0 innings while allowing five walks, four strikeouts, and gave up one earned run. With the win was Buffalo’s Connor Cooke who pitched in 1.1 innings while throwing two strikeouts and gave up a single walk.
The Iowa Cubs will return to the field on Tuesday when they face off against the Omaha Storm Chasers at 6:30 p.m.
