(Area) Wildlife baby season has arrived in Iowa.
John Lorenzen, with the DNR Office in Lewis, said fawns, for example, will start dropping soon and it is tempting to pick up a baby fawn if you find one in the woods, but you should leave them alone.
Lorenzen said if you find a fawn and pick it up, it makes the fawn more susceptible to predation.
The Iowa DNR says whether it’s a baby deer, raccoon, or bunny, “rescuing a baby from its mother” not only shows bad judgment, it also is illegal.
