(Miami, FL) — The first NFL training camp for former Iowa Hawkeye QB Mark Gronowski has been a roller coaster ride. After signing a nondrafted free agent deal with the Miami Dolphins, the NFL club released him on August 7. However, he has rejoined the club on a new deal on Sunday.
Gronowski comes back to the Dolphins after back up Quinn Ewers suffered a groin injury in Miami’s first pre-season game, a 20-7 loss to Washington. Gronowski is now the Number three QB on the roster behind Starter Malik Willis and Solon, IA native Cam Miller.
Willis had a solid debut for Miami in the game, going 4 of 5 passing for 43 yards and a QB rating of 102.5. Ewers and Miller did not play well — Ewers was 1 of 8 passing for 27 yards and 1 interception while Miller was 3 of 11 passing for 39 yards and 2 INT.
Miami’s next pre season game is this Saturday hosting the New York Giants.
