(Elk Horn, IA) — Exira EHK Volleyball is strong in numbers this season — Head Coach Derek Reischauer says he has the most players ever in his years coaching the Spartans. 19 players are out which means Exira EHK will compete at all three levels of volleyball. The varsity squad is coming off a 13-13 season but were 7-1 and 2nd place in the Rolling Valley. They lose one senior but it was a big one in the school’s all time kills leader in Jaelynn Petersen. Reischauer will turn to Senior Taryn Petersen to lead the team and if Jaelynn is not careful, her career record might only last one year
Reischauer needs somebody else to help Petersen with the offense this season and is looking at somebody from their 5 returning starters to do it
Junior Zoey Rasmussen is back as setter — she had 517 assists a year ago. Reischauer does not plan on using a libero to begin with. He needs some of his young players to take a step forward to help Petersen
Exira EHK will open their season on Thursday, August 27 in a Triangular in Griswold with Lenox.
