(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Supervisors approved a 5 percent raise for elected officials including themselves in the new budget at Tuesday’s meeting.
Last week, the Supervisors approved a motion in the new budget where all county employees receive a five percent raise. On Tuesday, the supervisors formally approved Resolution 26-27 which set salaries for elected officials in Guthrie County for 2026-27 with the five percent increase. Only one supervisor –Brian Johnson — voted against and he explains why
Supervisor JD Kuster did say that the supervisors have turned down raises in the past and it was time for an increase. The vote passed 3-1 with Supervisor Mike Dickson not present at the meeting.
In other news, the supervisors approved a financial oversight agreement with the Guthrie County First Responders.
The supervisors also approved the contract for the P28 Wagon Road pavement project to Hemmingsen Construction of Atlantic. The final contract is for $5,972,000. The county was also awarded nearly $10,000 in the traffic safety improvement program for road signs.
