(Iowa City, IA) – The Iowa Hawkeyes will be getting some early college football action this season with two Friday games in 2024. This comes from an announcement made by the Big Ten on Wednesday.
These two games will be Iowa’s third and fourth Friday night games in the last five years with both games resulting in victories for Kirk Ferentz and his squad. Iowa will be taking on UCLA on Friday, November 8th with an 8:00 p.m. kickoff at the Rose Bowl. This marks Iowa’s first game against the Bruins in Pasadena since 1986 and their first visit to Pasadena since the 2016 Rose Bowl against Stanford where Iowa lost 45-16.
Iowa’s second Friday game will be a continuing tradition of playing on Black Friday against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Iowa and Nebraska will play just a few weeks after Iowa’s first Friday matchup of the season on Friday, November 29th. The start time for this game has not yet been determined by the Big Ten as they’re waiting for television information to announce the official time.
The Hawkeyes will start off the season with a matchup against Illinois State on Saturday, August 21st followed by the Cy-Hawk series against Iowa State on Saturday, September 7th.
