(Griswold, IA) — After two losses to start the season, Griswold baseball has won 2 of its last 3 games and had a 10-2 lead on Friday night but the game got suspended because of the field conditions. Head Coach Ryan Lockwood says the Tigers are getting more and more confident on the diamond — that includes the veterans and the young players. One of those young guys is 8th grader Grayson Smith who is off to a great start batting at a .308 clip. Lockwood says he has a phenomenal swing and has made the transition to varsity ball
Another player that is hot right now is Senior Kolbe Klindt who has a 2.10 ERA in three relief appearances and is hitting .308
Also for Griswold, Sophomore Brayden Beck is hitting .357; Senior Nollan Smith is at .267; Senior Brayden Lockwood is also at .267 and leading the team with 7 runs; Junior Calden Turner is only hitting .182 but has an on base percentage of .500.
This week Griswold will play four games in five days so Lockwood knows its on him to manage his pitching staff
Griswold will host Stanton today, visit Nodaway Valley Wednesday, host Boyer Valley Thursday and visit Fremont Mills on Friday.
