The Iowa Secretary of State says absentee ballots must be returned to the auditor’s office by the time polls close at 8:00 p-m on Election Day Tuesday. Western Iowa Boy Found Safe In Omaha, Accused Kidnapper Taken Into Custody
(Omaha, NE) — An Iowa boy was found safe in Omaha Sunday, and the man accused of kidnapping him is in custody. An Endangered Person Advisory for the eight-year-old was issued by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Omaha Police received a report from Iowa deputies that the child and his accused kidnapper, 51-year-old Garry McBreen, were at a McDonald’s in Southwest Omaha. Officers and Nebraska State troopers responded to the scene at about and found the child. McBreen was taken into custody and booked into Douglas County Corrections in Nebraska.
Welcome Home Ceremonies Saturday For IA National Guard Soldiers Deployed To Iraq, Syria
(Des Moines, IA) — Welcome home ceremonies were held Saturday for more than 180 Iowa National Guard soldiers. The Des Moines and Council Bluffs ceremonies honored soldiers returning from year-long missions in Iraq and Syria. The returning soldiers were the last of more than 18-hundred who deployed last May to fight ISIS as part of Operation Inherent Resolve.
RAGBRAI Test-Run Underway Six Weeks Before The Official Annual Ride
(Des Moines, IA) — A group of riders is covering the 2026 RAGBRAI route about six weeks before the annual bike ride across Iowa. Organizers say the group is looking at traffic patterns, road conditions, and anything else that could effect cyclists. This year’s RAGBRAI starts in Onawa [[ AHN-uh-wah ]] July 18th and wraps up a week later in Dubuque.
Suspect Accused Of Thousands Of Dollars In Vandalism In Skate Park Bathrooms Arrested
(Des Moines, IA) — A person suspected of causing thousands of dollars in damages to a Des Moines skate park is in custody. Police say 21-year-old Jeffrey Krugler [[ KROOG-lur ]] is charged with felony Criminal Mischief. He’s accused of vandalizing the bathrooms at the Lauridsen [[ LAU-rid-son ]] Skate. Polk County Conservation says the bathrooms could be closed for more than a month as repairs are made. Temporary restrooms are available at the park.
