(Ames, IA) – Iowa State will be adding one of the country’s top wrestlers to its wrestling program. Head Coach Kevin Dresser announced that Utah Valley’s Evan Bockman will be transferring to Iowa State for the 2024-25 season.
Bockman is a three-time NCAA Qualifier who posted a 54-29 record at 197 pounds in three total seasons with Utah Valley. Just last season, he went 19-9 overall and 8-1 in dual action. The Alaska native went to the NCAA Championships where he was able to beat Levi Hopkins in the first round. He has had quite some time in collegiate athletics, redshirting in his first college season in 2018-19 and didn’t compete in the 2019-20 season before jumping in for his first official season in the 2020-21 year.
His top-tier experience came when he was in high school at Grace Christian School with a 43-0 undefeated record in his senior year.
The Alaska native will have just one season remaining with the Iowa State Cyclones.
