We’re here to celebrate the life of Dottie Ann Smith (AKA “Birdy”); the beloved mother to Theresa Miller, Bruce Smith and Sarah White, daughter of Mary Smith and Bruce Smith, grandmother to Gavin Miller, Shyann Brotherton, Sebastian Smith, Lakota Dawn King, Leila White King and Jordan Avery Lindsey, auntie to Steven Smith and David Neeley, great-grandmother to Atlas the dog, and friend and confidante to so many along the way Dottie lived a very full life of 60 years, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Dottie grew up in Lewis, Iowa, helping her family on the farm with many chores and tasks, and never would shy away from helping her father when needed. This is where she grew a love for the mechanical side of things, and throughout her life took a lot of pride in how those mechanic skills helped her work on numerous vehicles over the years. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family alike, and on numerous occasions put others before herself.
Dottie’s warmth, kindness and unwavering love touched the lives of so many. Her laughter was infectious…her smile could light up a room. She was a pillar of strength, always there to offer a listening ear or a helping hand to anyone in need. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Although she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit lives on in the hearts of her loved ones.
Let us remember the joy she brought into our lives, the love she shared so freely, and all the lessons she taught us all without even knowing it. Her grandchildren were her everything and kept her going and they will be forever thankful for all the goodies they all got to make at grandma’s house, all the important life lessons she taught us all & for always making sure that anything & everything that had wheels around there was always charged up and ready ta go or had gas in, so that they always got to ride… They’re also thankful for her sharing her love of motorcycles as well. The impact she made on each and every one of us. May her memory be a blessing and may we carry her light with us always.
REST IN PEACE, Dear Dottie…you are and always will be deeply missed, but your love will live on forever in our hearts.
