(Clarinda) A Clarinda man was arrested Tuesday night following a reported burglary and assault at a residence.
The Clarinda Police Department, Page County Sheriff’s Department and Iowa State Patrol arrested 41-year-old Jeremy Jack Scarpello at about 10:48 p.m. in the 400 block of East Tarkio Street following a brief search of the area.
Officers had responded to a 911 call in the 300 block of North 14th Street, where Scarpello allegedly forcibly entered a residence and assaulted two occupants.
Scarpello was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary, assault while participating in a felony and destruction of property.
Authorities say the incident was isolated and there is no additional danger to the public.
Scarpello is being held at the Page County Jail without bail pending an initial appearance before a magistrate. Reports have been forwarded to the Page County Attorney’s Office for a determination on formal charges.
