(Marion, IN) – Former Atlantic standout Craig Becker reached the finals in the preliminaries for Dordt University at the 43rd Annual NAIA National Championships on Wednesday at Marion, Indiana. Becker made the finals in the 1500-meter prelims with a time of 3:51.81. Additionally, Becker, running on the Defender’s 4×800 meter relay team, qualified for the finals.
The Atlantic native is coming off an outstanding performance at the GPAC Conference Track Meet on May 4. Craig won two championships, taking home first place in the 1500 Meters and 4×800 Meter Relay at 7:45.85. In the conference meet Becker anchored the 4×800-meter relay with a come-from-behind anchor leg, clocking a 58.96 on his final 400-meter lap to lead the Defenders’ relay team to victory. Additionally, Becker won the 1500 Meters at the Conference meet with a personal best time of 3:53.41.
Becker will be running both events at the National Meet on Wednesday.
