(Pottawattamie Co.) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors authorized the Board Chairman to sign a federal aid agreement between Pottawattamie County and the Iowa Department of Transportation for a Competitive Highway Bridge Program project.
The Competitive Highway Bridge Program is a national bridge infrastructure program. The Federal Highway Administration allocates around $300 million each year toward the program. County Engineer Andy Wicks said the Iowa Department of Transportation applies on behalf of all 99 counties each year.
Wicks explained that the federal funding covers 80 percent of the project, leaving the county responsible for the remaining 20 percent. However, the county has Highway Bridge Program funds available to cover its share. The total cost of the bridge project is $1.1 million.
Bridge Wright-03 is located on M47 over Little Walnut Creek.
