(Ames, IA) – With the cancellation of day two of the high school boy’s state golf tournament, CAM’s Chase Jahde has been named the second-place finisher for the 2024 State Golf Tournament. He went into day two expecting to have a chance for first place in the state golf tournament but will have to remain in the second-best spot in Class 1A. Jahde had one spectacular day one in the state tournament.
Going into the front nine, Jahde came out swinging for the greens after shooting at par on holes 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14. On hole 15, he would go just one over par with a six on a par five where it looked like he may shoot over for the first time on a front or back nine on the day. He went to hole 16 where he was able to shoot a four and put him at just one over. The saving grace came on the 17th hole, where Jahde was able to clinch a birdie. On hole 18, he was able to capture a hole at par with a four.
Jumping over to the back nine, he was able to take hole one for par on a par five and go one under par on a par four. Holes three, four, and five all were shot at par to put him at one under par going into hole six. This hole was just one of two on the day where Jahde shot over par, with a five on a par four. He would go out to par on holes seven and eight while earning a birdie on hole nine with a two-shot hole. He would finish the front nine with one under par for an excellent performance on the back nine to finish on the day.
In total, Jahde shot a 70 which put him right behind Hamburg’s Keith Thompson who shot a 69 on the day. Throughout the day, Jahde shot a total of 16 holes at par or better which includes three birdies and just two bogeys on the day.
Jahde is now your second-place champion in Class 1A of the high school state golf tournament. Congratulations to Jahde on such a successful accomplishment!
