(Iowa City, IA) – Iowa Hawkeye women’s tennis players Dianna Hayashida and Pia Kranholdt have been named to Big Ten season honors after their performance on the court this season. Hayashida was named to the All-Big Ten team while Kranholdt was named Iowa’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner.
Dianna Hayashida was able to earn her first honor in her career, marking the second straight season and third time in four years that Ioaw has had an All-Big Ten honoree. The native from Lima, Peru has been one of the top singles players throughout the spring season for Iowa, marking 11-6 on the season and 5-2 in Big Ten singles play. On the doubles side, Hayashida and her tennis partner Vipasha Mehra currently rank #85 on a national scale with a 4-3 record.
Pia Kranholdt earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award after holding a 9-7 record and went 5-3 all in singles play. The award goes to athletes that display good sportsmanship and good ethical behavior when out on the court. The Hilders, Germany native was able to post 11 wins as the winningest doubles team for Iowa alongside Barbora Pakorna.
Iowa ends the season after falling 3-4 to Penn State on Thursday.
