(Griswold) The Griswold school employees have a new contract agreement. The Griswold School Board met in a special session on Monday evening and approved a Master Contract for certified and non-certified staff.
Griswold Schools Superintendent Dave Henrichs says the board settled with the teacher’s union to get those contracts out to allow time to return them to the district.
The School Board settled with a 4.69 percent salary increase for certified staff. This allows movement on the salary schedule, which means all teachers who gain another year of experience get a higher pay rate. Additionally, the package increase includes the district’s health insurance share of the salary. Henrichs says the district is facing a 10 percent health insurance increase, which took a good chunk of the teacher’s raise.
Meanwhile, the Governor’s teacher compensation package changed salary negotiations. The new law states that the minimum salary for starting teachers next year is $47.500.00 and $60,000.00 for educators with 12 years or more experience.
He says all teachers will be at that minimum wage or have a $2,000 raise.
Henrichs says non-certified staff members received a one-dollar-per-hour increase in pay.
The School Board also approved the following:
