(Shelby County, IA) — Governor Kim Reynolds anticipates FEMA’s arrival on Tuesday to assess tornado damage in Shelby County. Reynolds toured the affected areas, including Minden, Tennant, and Harlan, where an EF3 tornado caused significant devastation. Early estimates suggest damages close to 100 million dollars.
Storms struck again near Minden and into Shelby County. According to social media, the Minden Fire Department reported an unconfirmed tornado damaging several structures. There is no word on injuries. Power Poles were destroyed, and MidAmerican Energy worked late into the night to restore power. Several counties experienced power outages, including the City of Exira, where it was reported this morning that power had been restored.
