(Pottawattamie County) Pottawattamie County to allow living in recreation vehicles permanently without fees until further notice.
During the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors meeting, Resolution No. 39-2024 was the second topic discussed on the agenda. Nearly two weeks after the tornadic events that ran through Pottawattamie county, homeowners of Pottawattamie county will now be able to live in their mobile homes for more than two weeks while their homes are being rebuilt. This would waive the current ordinance where homeowners are not allowed to live in RV’s on their own property for more than two weeks at a time.
The new resolution would allow for county officials to hand out special use permits to homeowners who were affected by the tornadic events on April 26, allowing them to live on their property in recreational vehicles without fees.
The county will also help those affected by hooking up campers to septic systems with DNR education and also connecting fresh water to the campers as well.
After reconstruction, homeowners must be moved into their new house in approximately 30 days after completion.
