Sherry L. Rife, age 75, of New Market, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Sherry was born November 24, 1947, in Bloomington, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Pauline (Kreplin) Williams. In high school, Sherry volunteered as a Candy Striper. She was united in marriage to Kurt Rife on May 27, 1967. The first 21 years of their marriage they lived on or near Air Force bases in North Dakota, California, the upper peninsula of Michigan, Missouri, and Nebraska. While in North Dakota, she volunteered as a Dental Assistant. Over the years, she volunteered at other AIR Force bases in Family Services and was named Volunteer of the Year in California. After moving to Iowa, Sherry was a CNA for the Good Samaritan Society in Villisca and worked with Page Home Care until retirement. She was a 4-H Leader and church secretary for many years. Sherry’s hobbies included training and showing dogs. She taught obedience classes at Iowa Western Community College as well as teaching privately. Sherry held titles of Champion AKC and UKC and was the editor for one dog club for over 20 years and two years for another.
Survivors include her husband, Kurt of New Market, Iowa; son: Jeffrey rife and wife Lois; daughter: Jennifer Graham and husband Michael; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.
Graveside celebration of life services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Memory Cemetery at New Market, Iowa. A time of visitation and luncheon will be held at J’s Pizza in Clarinda, Iowa following the graveside service. Memorials are suggested to the Hooves and Paws Rescue of the Heartland in Glenwood, Iowa.
