(Boston, MA) – Iowa State’s Cam Jones was able to get to a great start on Thursday at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Thursday. Jones hit 70-5 1/4 on his second throw of the night in the weight throw earning 14th overall and earned Second Team All-America honors.
Jones continues in the competition on Saturday in the shot put as one of two athletes in the nation to double in both the weight throw and shot put. He is the first multi-time weight throw All-American in Iowa State field history. The junior is also the fourth total All-American for Iowa State in the history of their track and field program. Jones was able to place 12th in the 2023 NCAA Indoor Nationals and earned second-team honors in that season.
Iowa State and Jones will continue in the NCAA Championships today with five different events taking place and will continue into Saturday.
