(Guthrie Center, IA) – ACGC had one impressive start at the beginning of the season but has had some tough matchups as of late. The Chargers have dropped their last two games to Coon Rapids-Bayard and Pleasantville who are very respectable teams this season. Despite those losses, the Chargers look ahead to take on two top-ten teams left on the regular season schedule with Madrid tonight and Underwood on Thursday.
Like many teams in the Southwest Iowa region, ACGC had three games over a span of four days with little to no time to hit the practice floor and get some reps in before their next matchup. With practice yesterday, the Chargers finally were able to get back to basics.
Tonight, the Chargers will be taking on the #2 Madrid Tigers who have three players who score in high figures. Toryn Severson leads the team in scoring with 22.2 points per game while shooting 50% from the field on average this season. Brocy Buck and Fabian Ortiz-Alaniz follow up right behind with 16 and 15 points per game respectively. This is a tough shooting squad that ACGC will have to work hard defensively to stop.
ACGC will be honoring their four seniors tonight for their senior night. Anthony Solorzano, Lance Bunde, Carter Neff, and Nate Chance have all made a big impact on this ACGC program in the present and for the future of Charger basketball.
The Chargers hit the floor tonight at home against #2 Madrid following the girl’s game at 7:30 p.m. KSOM will be live with a video-only broadcast with Zach Collins and Austin West on the call, right on Western Iowa Today TV.
