(Des Moines, IA) – Things were tight up until the second quarter of action last week for Grand View Christian against Woodward-Granger. The Thunder then entered the second quarter and gave up 20 points and were never able to come back in the game. Grand View is looking to increase their aggressiveness and physicality this week as they weren’t able to keep up with the pace of Woodward-Granger last week.
The Thunder were led in the last game by Noah John as he passed for 244 yards and two touchdowns while earning two interceptions in the competition. John earned those yards with two deep passes for 83 and 73 yards respectively.
In terms of improvements this week, Grand View Christian is looking to remain consistent. If consistency on the field improves, then we will see the Thunder compete at their highest level in tonight’s competition against Nodaway Valley. Head coach John Safford is looking to have his athletes improve in their rushing game while blocking up front to allow the running game of Noah John and Kaeden Burger to succeed.
Nodaway Valley is led by Ashton Honnold in the rushing game with 247 yards on the season. Grand View Christian is not looking to change up their gameplan, but rather polish the gameplan to a shine. Coach Safford wants to eliminate the turnovers and play better up front to eliminate the penalties against the Wolverines.
Grand View Christian travels to Nodaway Valley tonight to take on the Wolverines in a Class 1A District 7 matchup at 7:00 p.m. KSOM 96.5 will be live with Zach Collins and Austin West on the call with a pregame show at 6:30 p.m.
