(Sioux City) 10th ranked Morningside was knocked out of the NAIA Women’s National Basketball Tournament on Wednesday with their 72-69 loss to #23 West Virginia Institute of Technology. The Mustangs held a 57-50 lead going into the 4th quarter, but were outscored 22-12 the rest of the way.
Exira-EHK graduate Sophia Peppers scored 14 points and collected seven rebounds. She also had a blocked shot along with two assists and two steals. Morningside finishes the year at 23-10.
Peppers started all 33 games this season. She was 2nd on the team in scoring and 3rd in rebounding with averages of 14.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She shot 50.5% from the field and made 48 3-point shots.
