(Adair Co.) Jotham Arber, Director of Guthrie County Public Health, met with the Adair County Board of Supervisors this morning to discuss shared public health services.
Arber said he has been working with the Adair County Hospital over the last couple of weeks to determine the future of public health and how that will work best for Adair County.
Arber said he would like to initially start with an assessment of what they are looking at and what they currently have in place because some regionalization will be happening at the state level. He said the goal is to keep services local in Adair County because they do not want to lose that piece.
He said in July they will submit a proposal to the state to become a lead agency for the district.
He said the goal would be to have a one-year contract at a time and conduct a six-month evaluation of how things are going, just to make sure Adair County is comfortable with what they are doing and has an opportunity to evaluate things.
Supervisor Matt Wedemeyer told Arber that he made him feel better about Adair County’s position and how the county can meet its minimum requirements moving forward, get through the interim period, and then see how things change at the state level.
The Adair County Board of Health, during a special meeting on Tuesday, approved a motion to enter into a 28E Agreement with the Guthrie County Board of Health regarding public health services, including the continuation of Every Step Home Healthcare Services. The agreement is recommended to be a one-year contract. The motion passed unanimously.
No action was taken on the 28E Agreement by the Adair County Board of Supervisors this morning. Arber will return to the board with the agreement at a later date.
