(Iowa City) The Iowa City Police Department reports multiple arrests stemming from the April 19 shooting incident in the Iowa City Pedestrian Mall.
The investigation found that at approximately 1:45 a.m., April 19, a large fight broke out in the 100 Block of East College Street in the Downtown Pedestrian Mall. During a break in that fight, Ka’Mari Dozier, 17, of Cedar Rapids, handed a gun to Damarian M. Jones, 17, of Cedar Rapids. Jones shot the gun six times into the crowded Pedestrian Mall and injured five people with gunfire.
On May 11, Damarian M. Jones was apprehended near Atlanta, Georgia, by the U.S. Marshals Service. He is charged with Attempted Murder (Five Counts), Willful Injury, and Assault Causing Serious Injury (Three Counts). Willful Injury Assault Causing Bodily Injury (Two Counts), and Going Armed with Intent.
Meanwhile, Dozier faces five counts of attempted murder – joint criminal conduct, for supplying Jones the firearm immediately before the shooting. Dozier was also prohibited from possessing firearms at the time of this incident.
Following the shooting, Jones fled the scene with Isaiah M. Bates, 18, of Cedar Rapids. The investigation showed Bates arranged for Jones’ transportation out of Iowa City. Bates also later conducted internet searches related to the disposal of firearms.
Bates faces charges of Obstruction, Accessory after the Fact, and Riot.
The following individuals each face a single count of Riot for their roles in the Pedestrian Mall fight:

- Kortez T. Rhodes, 18, of Dubuque
- Elijah J. Koch, 18, of Cedar Rapids
- Lamon A. Boyce, 24, of Cedar Rapids
- Sean D. Thurman, 25, of Cedar Rapids
- Tyrone D. Poole, 25, of Marion
- Andre R. Roberts, 24, of Cedar Rapids
- Keivon D. Stokes, 18, of Cedar Rapids
- Shakayis A. Taylor, 20, of Cedar Rapids
- Jymin E. White, 21, of Cedar Rapids
- Kyree L. Wilkerson, 26, of Burlington
- Two juveniles
