(Underwood, IA) — Underwood has a huge football game this week as they visit Treynor with first place on the line in Class 1A, District 8.
The Eagles started the season throwing the football — QB Nash Mitchell threw for 414 yards and 5 TD in a week one win over Harlan. Lately though, Underwood has been sticking to the ground game. Two weeks ago against Clarinda, Charlie Myers ran for 139 yards. Against Interstate 35, Sophomore River Allen ran for 108 yards and in last week’s 35-25 win over Tri Center, Allen ran for 202 yards and 2 TD. Head Coach Nate Mechaelsen says Allen has been steady
Allen emerged last year as a scout team back and now he has earned more playing time giving the Eagles a two headed monster in the backfield
