(Audubon) Representatives from Snowfox Discovery are scheduled to provide an update on the hydrogen exploration project in Audubon County during the September 29 Audubon County Board of Supervisors meeting.
Audubon County Supervisor Chairman Kent Grabil says Snowfox representatives are taking a proactive approach to this project.
In late January of this year, representatives from Snowfox Discovery appeared before the Audubon County Board of Supervisors to outline their plans. Chief Commercial Officer Tom Allan says Snowfox intends to use conventional oil and gas drilling techniques to extract natural hydrogen, which could then be used to produce anhydrous ammonia locally for area farmers. Grabil says this project will benefit Audubon County and area farmers. Grabil explained that Snowfox now has enough aerial data, so they will not have to use seismic testing.
Chief Exploration Officer Michael Lawson explained that Audubon County lies within a unique geological feature that stretches from Kansas through Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and into Michigan. Lawson says Iowa’s composition is particular, and multiple geological factors must align for natural hydrogen to be present. Over the past 12 months, an independent professional landman has been working with local landowners in Audubon County as part of the early exploration process.
Grabil says the public is invited to attend the meeting or go to the Audubon County Website, and watch the presentation on Zoom on the Audubon County Supervisor agenda. He says Snowfox representatives will start the presentation at around 11:00 a.m.
