(Red Oak) A Nebraska man is in custody following a pursuit through two counties early this morning.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old Markus Allen Crom, of Bellevue, Nebraska, faces charges of eluding and possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine (1st offense). Additionally, deputies cited him for having no valid driver’s license.
Authorities say at around 2:24 a.m. Montgomery County deputies attempted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Highway 34 for a traffic offense. The driver, identified as Crom, failed to yield, and a high-speed pursuit began throughout Montgomery and Mills Counties before ending in a foot pursuit in the 500 block of N. 4th Street in Red Oak at around 2:50 a.m.
Crom is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on no bond pending an appearance before a Magistrate Judge.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Montgomery County K9 Unit, the Mills County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, the Red Oak Police Department K9 Unit, and the Montgomery County and Mills County Communications Centers.
