(Des Moines, IA) — Iowa is moving ahead with registration of vape products following an injunction being lifted.
House File 2677 is a state law that requires stores selling nicotine and vape products to be registered with and approved by the FDA. It aimed to establish a directory for state-approved vapor products and regulate distribution.
Now that an appeals court has lifted a stay against state enforcement of the law, all vapor products will need to be listed in the registry or they cannot be sold.
Any store selling products not on the registry will face civil and maybe criminal penalties. The state hopes to have the first list published October 15th and will begin enforcing penalties on November 16th.
