(Waterloo, IA) — Shenandoah had a rough day at the Boys State Tennis tournament, going 2-6 overall. Luke Daoust is still alive in the consolation round in singles while Lucas Sun and Teagan Brunk are in the consolation round in doubles.
In singles, Daoust won in the first round over Rowan Benda of Fort Madison 6-0, 6-0 but lost to Easton Moon of North Polk 6-0, 6-0. He will face Jonathan Pyatak of Chariton in the consolation quarterfinals.
Also in singles, Noah Narmi of St. Albert lost 6-0, 6-0 to Connor Feehan of Davenport Assumption and then lost to Tyler Wederking of Aplington Parkersburg 4-6, 6-0, 10-3. Owen Galvin of Denison Schleswig lost in the first round to Tyson Grote of Sgt. Bluff Luton 6-0, 6-0 and then to Pyatak 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles, Sun and Brunk lost 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2) in the first round to Brady Willis and Jack Wedemeier of Waverly Shell Rock but got a win in the consolation first round 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 over Colby Sherrod and Charlie Moeller of Spencer. Also for the Mustangs, Ryan Lawrence and Matthew Holmes went 0-2, losing to Charlie LeGrand and Jacob Schmitt of Xavier (6-0, 6-0) and Seth Hilleman and Easton Ersland of Ballard (6-2, 6-1).
