(Greenfield, IA) — Nodaway Valley Track and Field Head Coach Brett Welsch believes his girls team hit a little mid-season lull and is hoping they will start picking things up as they prepare for the state qualifying regional meet on May 14. Right now, Senior Izzy Eisbach ranks 9th in Class 2A in the 1500 and is 2nd in her region — the top two times at the regional meet will go to state. Welsch says she is in position to chase down the school record in the one mile
Senior Emma Boswell was a state qualifier in the long jump and high jump last year but is stuck at 4-10 in the high jump and just over 16 feet, 2 inches in the long jump. Welsch says she has some work to do before regionals
Junior Allie Cornelison has shown her versatility for the Wolverines — she can run both hurdles events and all the sprints. Welsch will use the next couple of weeks to figure out with events she is strongest in
Welsch is also concentrating on his Distance Medley and 4×800 relays.
Nodaway Valley is scheduled to run at Madrid tomorrow.
