(Atlantic, IA) — After a slow start, Senior Hudson McLaren has been heating up his putter and his golf scores have gotten lower. With two wins last week for Atlantic Boys Golf, McLaren is the Armour Insurance KS 95.7 FM Trojan Athlete of the Week.
Last Tuesday April 21, McLaren shot a one under par 34 to win a dual against Denison Schleswig, beating fellow Senior Sam Brosam by three strokes. That helped Atlantic beat the Monarchs 148 to 176. He followed that up with a one over 34 at Clarinda on Friday and tied Junior Gage Gross for the win. Brosam was two strokes back with a 36 and Junior Brady Wood three back with a 37.
McLaren’s average has gone down to a 36 for 9 holes and 38.97 for 9 hole adjusted — McLarren is now tied with Gross and Brosam for the adjusted score lead on the team and is tied for 32nd in Class 3A. Head Coach Kendra Henningsen says McLaren is trending in the right direction
The Trojans are scheduled today to be back at Denison for the Monarch Invitational — they will host their own Quad on Tuesday at Atlantic Golf & Country Club with Harlan, Kuemper Catholic, and Treynor.
