(Des Moines, IA) — The Drake Relays and National Weather Service have been in ongoing communication regarding this evening’s forecast. Currently, showers and thunderstorms are expected at Drake Stadium between 7-8 p.m. with lingering effects in the area for roughly three hours. Therefore, the schedule of events for Thursday’s action at the 116th Drake Relays has been adjusted.
Thursday’s action will now begin at 2 p.m. on the track with the 4×800 relay, and 3 p.m. in the north fields with the WACT men’s hammer throw.
The final event scheduled for tonight, the men’s and women’s invitational 10k races, are still on as planned, but could also be shifted to Friday or Saturday depending on this evening’s weather.
The high school boys discus, originally scheduled for today, has been moved to 8 a.m. Saturday, April 25.
The girls shot put and girls long jump are still scheduled for now at 5:00 pm today.
