(Woodbine, IA) — Landon Blum, the star wide receiver and basketball player for Woodbine has announced he will be playing football in the Big Ten at Penn St. The Junior has put up some amazing stats for the Tigers — last season he led the state in receiving touchdowns with 24. Overall, the Junior had 60 catches for 1,049 yards, averaging 17.5 yards per catch. He was in Atlantic on Tuesday to compete in the CAM Classic Track and Field event and won the Long Jump and finished 2nd in the High Jump and 200 meter dash. He says its a load lifted off his shoulders to make his college decision early
Blum reportedly had offers from 17 other schools such as Ole Miss, Miami (FL), Vanderbilt and Iowa– he had established a strong relationship with the coaching staff at Iowa St. but when Matt Campbell and other assistants left for Penn St. Blum says going there was a no-brainer
Blum anticipates on playing wide receiver with the Nittany Lions — he has the size at 6’4″ and speed and all the skills but there is a chance he could switch positions
Currently, former Woodbine Tiger Lane Pryor is a Tight End at UNI but this is one of the top college football programs in the country and Blum says its a big deal
In the meantime, Blum says he wants to go to state in the long jump and high jump — he was runner up to Trevon Keely of Paton Churdan last year at state.
