(Council Bluffs) A 27-year-old man is in custody following an early morning stabbing in Council Bluffs that led to an attempted murder charge.
According to the press release at around 4:55 a.m. on Wednesday, Council Bluffs police and fire crews were dispatched to a residence at 802 Avenue B after receiving a report of a cutting. When they arrived, officers found 53-year-old Gary G. Townsend injured inside the home. He was transported by medics to a local hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators determined that Moses S. Brown allegedly cut Townsend during an incident inside the residence before fleeing the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Detectives later obtained a warrant charging Brown with attempted murder.
Later that day, around 4:00 p.m., officers with the Fremont, Nebraska Police Department located Brown at a residence in Fremont and took him into custody without incident. He was booked into the Dodge County Jail on both the attempted murder warrant out of Pottawattamie County, Iowa, and a parole violation warrant from Nebraska.
The public is reminded that charges are not evidence against the defendant and the defendant is
presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
