(Pottawattamie Co.) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors signed a proclamation Tuesday morning designating April as Donate Life Month.
Madelyn Clark, with the Iowa Donor Network, thanked the supervisors for their support.
Clark said that in 2025, the Pottawattamie County Medical Examiner’s Office referred 143 potential donors to the Iowa Donor Network, honoring their legacies by offering the opportunity for donation.
National Donate Life Month is observed each April to raise awareness about the critical need for organ, eye, and tissue donation, and to honor the generosity of donors and their families. More than 100,000 people in the United States are currently waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, including over 600 Iowans, with a new person added to the waiting list every eight minutes.
