(Des Moines) The active weather pattern continues this week and into the weekend, according to National Weather Meteorologist Ashley Bury.
Bury says today and Tuesday appear dry, before showers and storms return Tuesday evening, with the main threat on Wednesday.
“There is a slight risk for severe weather for southwest Iowa on Wednesday, with an enhanced risk further to the east,” said Bury. “We could experience all modes of severe weather, including large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes.”
Bury says the warm and humid conditions are fueling the weather systems moving through the area. Bury says the outlook does not show these types of systems slowing down in the near future.
“Beyond Wednesday, we could still see some showers and storms later in the day on Thursday as well,” stated Bury. “By Friday and Saturday, we could see some drier weather with a chance for more storms; however, the details are not exactly clear at this time, Bury says this weather pattern is not unusual for this time of year.”
